Nearshore questions

What is nearshore staff augmentation?
Placing contractors who live in a nearby time zone inside a client's own team, usually engineers in Latin America working with US companies. They work the client's hours on a contract, while the staffing firm recruits, employs or contracts them, and bills the client.
How do I calculate the margin on a contractor?
Subtract what the contractor costs you (pay plus costs like an employer of record, equipment and payment fees) from what you bill the client, then divide by what you bill. At $55 an hour for 160 hours, $8,800 billed against $4,800 of cost is a 45.5% gross margin.
What's the difference between margin and markup?
Both use the same profit. Margin divides it by what you bill; markup divides it by what the contractor costs. $4,000 of profit on $8,800 billed is a 45.5% margin and an 83.3% markup.
Does Spectacled run payroll or act as an employer of record?
No. Spectacled covers the work from sourcing to the signed contract and keeps the rates and margin on each placement. Pay contractors through your employer of record or payroll tool.
Can clients browse my bench without seeing names?
Yes. The talent showcase shows anonymised profiles with skills, seniority and country. Names, contact details, pay and employers stay hidden until the client logs in to your portal.
Does the careers site work in Spanish and Portuguese?
Yes. Job pages and the application form come in Spanish, Portuguese, English, French and German.
